Mother Violin is a groundbreaking project centered on the creation of approximately twelve exceptional string instruments, each crafted from 6,500-year-old fir wood recently excavated in the Alps. This extraordinarily rare material—preserved for millennia—will be used not only for the instrument tops, but also for all internal components, including the sound post, resulting in a level of exclusivity never before realized in violin making.

The vision behind Mother Violin is to establish the most exclusive group of string instruments in the world and secure their status as a world treasure. These instruments are designed to be immediately recognizable for their unique origin and appearance while delivering a level of tonal excellence that meets the demands of the world’s most discerning soloists. Each piece will stand as both a work of art and a high-performance instrument, combining historical depth with acoustic innovation.

The project is led by violin maker Daniel Musek, who trained in Cremona under V. Bissolotti, a distinguished representative of one of the most important violin-making families of the 20th century in Italy. This lineage connects Mother Violin to the rich tradition of Cremonese craftsmanship, while pushing the boundaries of what is possible in contemporary instrument making.

Mother Violin (Mati violin) je ustvarjena iz jelke, stare več kot 6.500 let, odkrite v Triglavskem narodnem parku v Sloveniji. Po dendrokronološki analizi v Ljubljani in radiokarbonski analizi na Dunaju je bilo potrjeno, da je les iz obdobja med 4346 in 4542 pr.n.š. – zdrav, izjemno ohranjen in primeren za izdelavo vrhunskih instrumentov.
